When it comes to my support the first person that comes to mind is “God”. He always makes a way out of no way. Without trust and faith in him, I will not be where I am today. I am grateful for having him as the driving force in my life because I know that he will steer me in the right direction. I pray daily for strength, guidance, and support so that I can make it through the day because my job and life get stressful at times.
My family is my biggest support team. I am the first of my grandmother’s grand children to graduate from college. They have always motivated me to reach for the starts and go after my dreams. When I get stressed and worried about graduate school and other issues in my life, I reflect on the conversations I have with them for support and encouragement. My family is my rock. When I get up in the morning I look at my nieces’ picture and get motivated to get to work because I live, eat, and breathe for them. I never knew that I could be so attached to children that I did not have physically but I am. Even though my family and I have our differences at times, I will not trade them for nothing in the world because I never would have made it this far without them.
My final support is my laptop. I use it daily. It is funny but I cannot live without a computer. It is my life line. My laptop keeps me up to date with the weather, life events, and allows me to attend school via the World Wide Web. Everyone who knows me can say that I will go crazy without my laptop. Technology has spoiled me and I hope that my future children do not get wrapped up with the modern gadgets in today’s society.
Overall I must say that I have a great support system. There will be many children who lack family support. As and educator I will try and be there for any child so they do not feel that they are in this world alone. I came from a single parent household and I must say that my mom did a great job with raising me because she kept me grounded. Another important factor that I gained with doing this exercise is that no matter who you are, everyone needs support. My life who be hectic had it not been for my great support system. One my challenges would be for me to not be able to communicate with my nieces and nephew daily. If I missed a day without communicating or video chatting with them I would lose it. They complete me. Because of them I continue to strive and work hard because I want to help my sister give them a better life than what we had in our childhood.
